Learn How to Turn Green at the Fair!


This year the North Florida Fair in partnership with Florida A & M University's StateWide Small Farm Programs, will be offering "Green Living a Sustainable Living" informative programs, exhibits and some hands-on interactive learning for all ages to provide learning opportunities designed to improve your lifestyle and well-being.

(Each workshop will take place in building one the "Green Building".
Come on out and enjoy the learning at the North Florida Fair)

Greening your Roof/Green Roof Vegetation

Randell Duggins, FAMU School of Architecture will talk about green roof designs & benefits. Learn how to get started


Smart Water, Sustainable Energy, Lowering Electric Bills, Greening the Landscape… 

Will Sheftall, UF/CES will discuss how we can all tap into a more simple living… with just these tips.

Flooring goes green

Michell Roberts, ABC Flooring will talk about & demonstrate several options for recycled & green flooring. Tile from recycled glass, carpet from corn… 

Sustainable at home & work

The City of Tallahassee will demonstrate how they converted their vehicle(on display all day) to run on electric energy & discuss ways to conserve water, electricity and other natural resources.

Hands-on Learning Workshops

Learn how to preserve fruits & vegetables, organic gardening with elevated beds & raised beds, how to make your own green cleaning products, how our schools are greening and more.

Preserving the Harvest Workshop. Learn about canning & how to make preserves.

Grow your own food Workshop. Learn organic gardening methods. Learn how to build raised beds & elevated beds for you garden.

Green Cleaning.
Learn how to get rid of mold & mildew. Learn how to make your own cleaning products.

will tell us about the success of their recycling & organic gardening project.

Solar Energy. SAIL High School will tell us about their physics class & success of the new Solar Energy Project.

Part 1: Building Healthy Soil & Fall Gardening

Learn how to grow your own food using organic methods. Learn about plant propagation, germination, seed selection, how make you own soil mixture, manage disease, weeks, pest, crop rotation, how to make compost and more.
